How to immediately unlock powerful AI web use cases on whatever stack you use
You don’t need a new CMS or an “AI-first” website builder to get real, immediate value from AI on the web. There’s a simple approach that works on almost any stack and you can start using it straight away.
The idea is surprisingly straightforward: train an AI to understand the content modules you already have, so it can give you bespoke copy, optimisation ideas and clear areas to work on in your roadmap or no-code builder.
No replatforming. No new vendor. Just better leverage of what you already have, ready to go almost straight away; I built the AI I am about to describe in less that 2 hours.
Why this works
Most websites are built from a finite set of content modules. Heroes, FAQs, testimonials, feature lists, CTAs, etc. Most sites are built using the same 10-20 content modules as reusable building blocks.
Once an AI understands:
what those modules are
how they behave visually
what fields they contain
character limits and any supporting media
and what they are meant to achieve
it becomes a very cost-effective way to build and optimise pages that help grow your business.
What you can do once the AI understands your modules
Save serious time on copy
When an AI knows:
which modules exist
what fields they contain
the character limits for each
any supporting media
you can ask it to:
turn any existing document into CMS-ready copy (i.e turn this google doc / brochure into a landing page)
generate first drafts that already fit your modules
rewrite or adapt copy without breaking layout constraints
Whether you start from scratch or from an existing doc, the output is immediately usable in your CMS.
Improve conversion and page performance
You can also use it to get immediately actionable optimisation ideas.
Feed the AI:
the goal of the page
any performance metrics you have
the URL
a full-page screenshot (desktop and mobile)
Once it understands both the content and the modules used, you can ask things like:
Where would you optimise this page for its stated goal?
What A/B tests would be worth running here?
What hypotheses might explain the current metrics?
What copy tweaks would likely have the biggest impact?
Are there gaps in the storytelling for this objective?
Are there missing module types that could strengthen the page?
These are just examples. Don’t limit yourself to my imagination!
How to set it up
1. Create a dedicated AI project
Set up a dedicated project or workspace in your LLM of choice and define its role clearly. For example:
I am going to give you detailed information about the web content modules available in our CMS, including their fields, character limits, visual behaviour, and intended purpose.
You should learn how these modules work so you can:
generate CMS-ready copy that fits the available modules
suggest page layouts using only those modules
recommend realistic optimisation and A/B test ideas within our existing constraints
2. Document each CMS module
For every module, give the AI a consistent set of information.
Module name: Use whatever naming system makes sense to you. If your CMS modules are unnamed, make them up.
Screenshots: Desktop and mobile.
Fields and character limits: Exactly as they exist in the CMS.
Primary objective: i.e inform, convert, build trust, or navigate.
Optional but very useful:
Best audience or persona
Funnel stage
Usage rules (for example: don’t repeat on a page, not above the fold)
Any performance insights you already have
Repeat this process for every module you use regularly.
Example: FAQ module
Here is an example of what you would input into your LLM of choice.
Module name: FAQ accordion
Fields and limits:
Section heading: max 60 characters
Question: max 80 characters
Answer: max 300 characters per item
Max items per module: 6
Primary objective:
Build trust and reduce friction by addressing common objections or uncertainties.
Typical usage notes: Often placed mid-page or below pricing. Avoid repeating questions already answered elsewhere on the page.
Screenshots: you can use your imagination here, I'm sure
Test it before you rely on it
Once you’ve trained the AI, it’s worth giving it a quick sanity check.
Send it a link to a few existing pages and ask: "Which modules are being used?"
If it identifies your modules, you’re ready to put it to work.
Name it
At this point, you’ve built a bespoke AI that will unlock immediate and significant impact for your web team. Make sure you tell people. To help get buy in with your stakeholders, give it a funky name and invite people to interact with it. I’d personally go with Will.i.am (Will’s Information Architecture Model), but I’ll leave that decision with you.
Example prompts you can use
I'm sure you've probably already thought of others, too..
“Take this product brief and turn it into CMS-ready copy using our existing modules.”
“Here’s a landing page URL and goal. Where would you optimise first and why?”
“Suggest three A/B test ideas using only the modules available on this page.”
“Rewrite this section to better support conversion without changing modules.”
“Are there any missing modules that would strengthen the story for this audience?” (To get focus in your roadmap)
“Based on this screenshot, where is copy working against the layout?”
